Beijing: Day One

HARLOW FAN CLUB. I APOLOGISE FOR MY IRRESPONSIBLE BLOGGING DUTIES. hotel had nearly full occupancy everyday, so i was really busy till today manzxzx. ANYWAY, WELCOME TO BEIJING!

took a bloody 7 hours bus ride there, omg. but spent half the time sleeping, SO ITS ALL GOOD. =)

Our hotel: holiday inn express at staff rate of 238RMB per night. CHECK IT OUT! we took 2 standard rooms, room one: me and zhenshun, room two: weizhi, jialing and huier.

dump our bags, and OUT WE GO. oh, did i forget to mention that our hotel is a 10 mins walk from the BIRD NEST STADIUM? anyway, olympic venues were only opened during national day holidays, SO HOW LUCKY WERE WE? OFF TO GET TICKETS!

to our bloody disappointment, TICKET OUTLETS ARE NOT NEAR THE VENUES, so we decided to get tickets tomorrow morning. NOW OFF FOR DINNER. how are we gonna travel? its time to take the BEIJING SUBWAY.

im thankful for the small population and the clean city in singapore. but beijing's subway ISNT THAT BAD. its a convenient way to travel. xD we went to the orchard road of beijing, WANG FU JING!

ON THE WAY BACK TO THE HOTEL. trust me, we are independent travellers, we plan our route for the next day. =)

end of day one. =)

XOXO,
Jeremy

some funny things

since im having internet in my room now. and i finished watching heroes, sarah connor chronicles, prison break and gossip girl. since im having holidays for a week now. since i have nothing to do. lets see some interesting things ive seen in china. =)

beer, beer, and more CHEAP BEER. in case you cant read the sign, its 1.30RMB per can of beer. 1.30RMB/4.71 = SING DOLLARS. go do the maths. wanna get drunk anyone?

this is a shopping receipt. besides being all in chinese, what's the difference between your original receipt? see the scratched grey box below? AHHHH YES. every receipt gives u a lucky draw on the spot, it either says 'xie xie ni' or you get 2RMB-10RMB which you can redeem on the spot with the cashier. SUGGEST TO YOUR LOCAL SUPERMART NOW.

Sorry for the blur text, let me explain. its at the front desk of a hotel over here. basically it notifies you that is ADDS 5RMB to your bill automatically and donates this amount to the hotel's charity on your behalf. if you wanna CANCEL it, please notify the front desk officer. HMM. always check your receipt for things you did not buy, but charged to you. =)

I took a picture WITH PERMISSION from his secretary. yes this is the GM's office. my GM is from australia, so sorry its not furnished to cater to China people. its pretty cool eh? time to send in your resume!

wanna visit a local pet shop? NAH there isnt such thing. walk along the road and you will see, CLEAN ANIMALS! 100RMB! 3 MONTHS OLD! and you can bargain for a PET OVER HERE. wanna call SPCA? go ahead. i admit, being a dog lover, some are really beautiful and tempting to buy. ARGH.

remember your local IT show? people walking around with signboards, usually in pairs? nope not over here. this is a STRING OF PEOPLE, your age, holding promotion signboards for a nearby shop, walking ALONG THE MAIN ROAD. part time job anyone? =)

HUH! DIDNT KNOW HOMER SIMPSON HAD A SHARE IN THIS HOTEL! i am gonna show the GM of this hotel that this name belongs to some famous family. =)

MORE CHINGLISH!

V! just in case you didnt know how to say this in CHINESE. =)

YUP! IM LEAVING FOR BEIJING. tomorrow morning by bus at 10am! till then.

ill be missing YOU

XOXO,

Jeremy

BEST DAY IN CHINA!

OMG. TODAY IS LIKE SHIOK. LIKE. SHIOK LA. MY FIRST OFF DAY.

we went to SPRINGS. which is famous over here, basically 72 known springs, and above 300 unknown springs. HAHA PHOTOS LA I KNOW. OVER HERE

woke up at 11pm. SHIOK LA. I USUALLY WAKE UP AT 8 FOR WORK. then then then, went for breakfast at the hotel. then we left at 2pm and walked to the SPRINGS!

FOR YOUR INFO: this is the queue to get water from the spring for FREE. its clean. so if ur complaining why PUB is so fucking expensive? come to Jinan.

after the springs visit. we took a cab to thousand buddha mountain! its one of the tourist attraction over here. its 280m above sea levels i think. its an hour climb to the top! AND WE MADE IT. =)

AND THE CLIMB BEGINS. ITS THE STEEPEST STEP EVER.

SUMMIT! ITS LIKE FUCKING BEAUTIFUL. sorry i was trapped in the views of mount faber and bukit timah hill, those are like PUSSY MOUNTAINS. CHECK OUT THE VIEWS.

yeah. went archery on the way down the mountain. 10RMB for 18 arrows. how cool is that? reached the exit at like 7pm. thank goodness we made it before sunset as there are no lights all the way down!
flagged a cab for the girls and zhenshun, AND SPENT 30 MINS WAITING FOR THE OTHER. gave up, walked back to hotel. saved 8RMB. =) AFTER DINNER WE WENT TO THE HOTEL LOUNGE. and the girls and zhenshun plucked courage to sing for the hotel guests! I WILL POST THE VIDEOS LATER. i didnt dare to sing, so i suggested lets go to a KTV, AND WE WENT.

this is the best KTV I EVER BEEN TO. it has all the songs i was looking for, original MTV videos, not the some random guy and girl in some random place kind of video? and YES ANG MOH SONGS ALSO. THANKS TO OUR WESTERN CHEF MR HYDES FOR GIVING US THE TREAT THERE.

now for the highlight of the night:

video video

this day still doesn beat any day in Singapore i spend with YOU.

FIRST DAY AT WORK

OMG. I JUST CAME BACK FROM A HAIRCUT. ONE OF THE FIRST FEW THINGS I HATE DOING HERE. Didn’t had a choice, BTW IM IN CONCIERGE. THEY MADE ME CUT MY HAIR CAUSE TOO LONG. SIGH. SIGH. I LOOK LIKE A CHINA BOY NOW. Im not gonna let you see my new hair cut. Haha. Sigh. Sigh. Emo shit now.
Anyway, first day of work was not bad. SHOW YOU ALL MY UNIFORM OKAY.

THIS IS MY EMO CORNER. when i miss home i just come in, sit at the stool and memorize stuff. HAHAHAHAHA

Staff canteen food is ALL RIGHT LA. If you wanna save money, but I hardly eat there anyway. i look more like a manager then a trainee to them. Haha! My shift all week is 9am – 6pm because its my orientation week. Nothing much to blog about. Im starting to feel a little homesick already =(. Miss all of you in singapore. I hope I get internet access in my room soon, which is supposed to be in the process. SIGH SIGH. Besides being homesick, everything else should be fine here. I think I am gonna miss zhenshun when he goes back to Singapore. I AM PLANNING A TRIP TO BEIJING SOON WHICH IS DURING THEIR NATIONAL DAY. Their national day is like THREE DAYS LEAVE MAN, PLUS MY WEEKLY LEAVE IS TWO DAYS, IN TOTAL IS FIVE DAYS. NO. ITS 7 DAYS HOLIDAYS NOW. They cannot let me work on public holiday, because they have to pay me 3 times my normal pay. WHY SINGAPORE NATIONAL DAY ONE DAY ONLY. Just enjoy my pictures, ill blog about Beijing when I get back. =)

i forgot to bring my camera. SO PHOTOS ARE LIMITED. =(

I MISS YOU LIKE CRAZY K.

MY CHINA NUMBER IS LIKE 11 NUMBERS: 15863142152

XOXO,
Jeremy

first day in CHINA!

HEY FAN CLUB! I am blogging on Microsoft word from my room at the moment because there is not internet in my room temporarily. Ill have to travel up to my 24 hrs restaurant at level 6 called ‘Level 6’ Restaurant. HAHA. I didn’t sleep well on the plane, as usual, the downside of being tall = no place to stretch your fucking legs. Haha. When I reached Beijing airport at 6.30am in the morning. OMG, ITS LIKE SO BEAUTIFUL THANKS TO THE OLYMPICS. NICE SIA! I told myself the next time ill be there will be on the way home back to Singapore. =) oh they have Ajisen, BK, Mackers, KFC, Starbucks, Hagen Daz here. Its like SINGAPORE? So don’t come and tell me China is a backward country, ur fucking brain is backward. Ate at some noodle restaurant, you have to get used to the salt and oil here, its like a food commodity. Took a domestic flight to my hometown, Jinan, THE FUCKER CONFISCATED BEN’S GIFT AT THE AIRPORT, HE PROBABLY LIKES IT AND WANTS TO OWN IT FOR HIMSELF. Ruined my bloody mood. Haha.

REACHED JINAN! At about 1030am, saw zhenshun (my secondary school friend who was working here for the past semester) and finally get to pass my 2KG BAH KUA to him. Id rather they confiscated those pork, KIDDING DUDE. Took a van to the hotel. I shall not talk about air pollution here, smoking is allowed everywhere, so you can almost imagine. There are only 3 five-star hotels in JINAN, Crowne Plaza, and 2 more that I cant remember the name, OH WELLS. They do not have sliding doors over here, instead REVOLVING DOORS, WAY COOLER THEN SINGAPORE MAN.

Settled down in my room, had a free intercontinental buffet in the restaurant, I REALISED THAT I CAN EAT THERE FOR FREE ON MY OFF DAYS INSTEAD OF STAFF CANTEEN. HAHAHAHA SUCK THAT. They have Italian food, Brazilian grill, asian food, fresh seafood, dim sum, Indian curry, western food, and the MOST AMAZING DESSERT COUNTER EVER. I will control myself.
Then we had a room tour. HAHA. PROOF THAT THIS IS A BLOODY FIVE-STAR HOTEL IS HERE. I INTRODUCE YOU THE ONE AND ONLY PRESENDENTIAL SUITE.

18,000RMB per night.
Next but not least, the AMBASSADOR SUITE.

10,000RMB per night.

They have this available in every room.

Went to buy things that I need which I am short of. It feels good to be able to choose your own design of things, make your own decision on what you need, im not complaining! Things here are generally cheaper, but still there is a chance you will buy things that you don’t need. CONTROL MAN. They have Carrefour, Walmart and a few local supermarkets here. I have to be so careful with my things, quote from Vincent ‘whats behind is not yours, whats beside belongs to the person next to you, only whats in front belongs to you’. Then we had dinner at this beef noodles restaurant.

It costs 10RMB for small, 11RMB for large. I am taking the large one.

Went for more shopping, bought phone card, its 11 numbers here, so stop complaining when the government ask you to add a 6 in front of all residential numbers you spoilt brats. Went for a drink with the western ANG MOH chef. HIS LIKE 23 YEAR OLD AND LOOK, HE LIVES IN A SUITE HERE, AND GETS HIGH PAY TO ENJOYING DOING WHAT HIS DOING. His funny, he has a Chinese girlfriend that will be joining him here soon. AWWWWW. He says the girls here are better then NZ (his hometown). I refused to agree. His here a month earlier then me, so his glad there are more English speaking people here now, CHEERS DUDE.

10RMB per bottle of Corona, courtesy of Corey (the chef)

Went back to the hotel, took my laptop to the restaurant and had a fun time talking on skype in English and hokkien. YAY!
Till the next time I blog, I miss you.

S-Shaped Durians

XOXO,
Jeremy
